The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an official update regarding testing of fortificants in Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), and Vitamin–Mineral Premix.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued an official update concerning the testing of fortificants in Fortified Rice (FR), Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK), and Vitamin–Mineral Premix used in FRK.
According to the update, FSSAI has revised the list of notified laboratories authorised to test Iron, Vitamin B9 (Folic Acid), and Vitamin B12 in fortified rice products. The move is aimed at strengthening quality assurance and regulatory compliance under India’s food safety framework.
FSSAI has advised Food Business Operators (FBOs) to ensure that samples are sent only to FSSAI-recognised laboratories with valid NABL accreditation. Verification of accreditation status should be done prior to sample submission.
📌 This order updates and supersedes previous lists of notified laboratories for fortified rice and associated products.
